Avengers (& Rockets)@
St Georges Park
Whether travelling up by car
or mini bus, there was an air of excitement as both the Avengers and the
Rockets set off to the home of the English FA, St George's Park.
Both sides where heading up to play against Welsh grassroots side Gresford.
Upon arrival it was fantastic to see the teams' names up in lights as the
fixture was publicised
in the main reception area. It was then a case of heading to the Hythe changing
room, where conversation quickly changed to which England star may have
got changed in the same space
as was now being used. Once changed it was out on to the impressive indoor
facilities for a warm up, then in to the tunnel before coming out on to
the pitch greeted by cheers and
applause from the gathered crowd.
A series of Round Robin games
followed, with both the Avengers and the Rockets producing footballing displays
the club would have been proud of, the Rockets finishing with
a perfect record of 3 wins from 3 games. After the games the boys continued
to build on their friendships by sharing in Pizza and drinks up in the hospitality
For the Rockets a special moment of remembrance, as the Alan Ausden Award
was handed out by Finn Aplin, in memory of his late grandfather, who had
enjoyed such a fantastic day
out at St George's the previous year. With tired and happy faces it was
time to depart.
A huge thank you to Matt Crocker,
who made the day possible and for all of the parents and family members
who really made this a day which the teams will remember for ever.
A huge well done to all the players who were a credit to the club.
