Football is now the top participation sport for women and girls in England, and at Hythe & Dibden YFC we are making sure this trend is continuing to grow in our region. We’ve put a strong emphasis on girls participation and in the last 5 years we’ve seen a huge increase in female membership, including many all girls teams.
England’s success at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup has certainly helped to inspire the next generation of young girls to get involved in the beautiful game. The targets for womens football set by the FA demonstrate how much emphasis they are placing on womens football. Find out more here http://www.thefa.com/womens-girls-football/about-womens-football
We have many opportunities for girls to get involved and try football, including the FA Wildcats football centre, our mini-soccer Lionesses for year 1, 2, and 3, and girls only teams at several age groups. We’re also lucky enough to have many female coaches within our ranks.
Some girls will benefit from a girls only environment, where as others thrive in a mixed gender environment. We will always strive to put girls in a playing environment where they are comfortable and suitably challenged.
